I have low expectations when it comes to cheap knock off kits, but I bought this as a jumping off point in building book nooks. I was pleasantly surprised by how great the kit was. All the pieces fit perfectly and most small pieces had extras just in case they'd break getting them out. It even came with a little tool to help get the pieces out. I never needed any of those extra parts though because I found that the parts came out easily. The instructions were easy to follow. Like building a Lego set. I'll admit I was intimidated by the wiring, but had the confidence to give it a go. This kit made the wiring simple too. I love that it has a touch switch that you mount to the bottom side of the top so you can easily tap the star printed on the top to turn the lights on and off. Don't have to pull the dust cover off or open the back. I intend to branch into creating my own book nooks at some point, but this kit made it just so carefree and fun to build, I might do a couple more of these kits first. Sure it's not super realistic, but I love that I didn't have to paint anything or wait for paint to dry. I built this while snowed in at home during a storm, but it only took about 6-7 hours to build start to finish. The only thing I needed that wasn't in the kit was glue. (I used Aleene's Turbo Tacky Glue because that's what I had, but worked great.)

It was my first time putting something like this together. It took me about 2 days total. I really enjoyed putting it together. Beautiful details and the finished product is amazing. Fits perfect on my book shelf and the lights are a great touch. I had to slow down and really analyze a couple of the pictures. I suggest using an exacto knife to help loosen the pieces to avoid breakage but they are good about giving you extra pieces just in case. You will want scissors, glue, clear tape, an exacto knife, and tweezers. I used all of those items. The kit does not come with these items or batteries. I purchased mine ahead of time after reading other reviews.

I can not recommend this enough. My boyfriend got it for me and we just spent the day building it. It took us about 8 hours working in tandem. Absolutely beautiful and high quality book nook. I really appreciate that extras were included in case some of the small pieces broke. We will definitely be getting more of these to further decorate our bookshelves.
